Get a free copy of The Sisters Brothers by Patrick deWitt

We’ve decided to start 2012’s Dabbler Book Club off with a bang – This month we’re offering members the chance to get their hands on one of the most incendiary literary hits of the last year – The Sisters Brothers by Patrick deWitt.

Shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize, The Sisters Brothers has grown into a massive word of mouth hit since its release. Described in the Financial Times as ‘a blackly comic witty noir version of Don Quixote’, Dabbler Elberry alerted us to its dark potential back in October, telling us

The Sisters brothers drink brandy and a lot of it; they don’t go on holidays; they consort with harlots; they would brutally and justly pistol-whip Ian McEwan and indeed anyone who works in an office, were the opportunity to present itself.

Told in deWitt’s darkly comic and arresting style, The Sisters Brothers is the kind of Western the Coen Brothers might write – stark, unsettling and with a keen eye for the perversity of human motivation. The Sisters Brothers is a novel about the things you tell yourself in order to be able to continue to live the life you find yourself in, and what happens when those stories no longer work. It is an inventive and strange and beautifully controlled piece of fiction.

How to get a free copy of The Sisters Brothers
If you are already a member of the Dabbler Book Club you will automatically be entered into the draw. If you haven’t already joined, all you have to do is sign up below. It’s free.

After that, you don’t have to do anything. All members will be automatically entered into the ballot for one of 10 free review copies, which will take place on Wednesday 26th January. We’ll email the winners, at which point you can opt out if you really don’t want that month’s choice and would rather another member got the chance.

See more information about the Dabbler Book Club here. Two copies are set aside exclusively for members of the League of Dabblers, so they will have a greater chance of winning.

We’ll be reviewing The Sisters Brothers in the next month or two, and you can contribute your thoughts (though you’re not obliged to.)
