Introducing The Dabbler Book Club: Simon Winder’s Germania

Welcome to The Dabbler Book Club!

This is your chance to get hold of free books, hand-picked by The Dabbler from the best new releases.

It’s free to join, is available inside and outside the UK, and every month you’ll get the chance to:

  • receive a free copy of the latest book
  • read exclusive posts by authors and reviewers
  • take part (if you wish) in online discussion and debate

How does it work?

To sign up to the Book Club just complete the form below.

On the first Wednesday of the month we’ll announce the next book and invite members to email in to win a free review copy. Everyone who replies by the deadline of the following Monday at noon will be entered into the ballot. Winners will be randomly selected and free review copies will be posted to them (we’ve arranged for copies to be delivered internationally so don’t be put off if you don’t live in the UK).

Readers can send reviews to The Dabbler, and on the first Tuesday of the following month we’ll post our own review of the book and the best from readers. There’s no obligation for winners to join in the review debate with your comments and opinions, but we’d appreciate it!

That’s it. A book a month with plenty of reasons to get involved or simply sit back and enjoy.

Join now – it’s free!

To join the Dabbler Book Club, just complete the form below.

Every month we’ll announce on the blog what the next book is going to be, and send you an email reminder – you can then decide if you’d like to enter the ballot for a free copy. We might email you with Dabbler-related stuff occasionally, but won’t pass your details on to any third parties. Ts and Cs apply.

Thanks to Pan MacMillan for providing books.

Our first selection: Germania by Simon Winder

Our first pick for the Dabbler Book Club is by an author we introduced this morning: it’s Simon Winder’s Germaniadescribed by the Telegraph as ‘an unusual and very entertaining tour of the oddities of German history’.

If you’d like to try to win a free copy you need to sign up to be a member of The Book Club using the form above and then email us to let us know you want to be considered for the ballot before noon on Monday.

We’ll be reviewing Germania – and inviting the usual considered and erudite commentary – on Tuesday 3 May. If you’d like us to consider publishing your review please email it to us before then. So please do mark it in your diary.

Excellent choice. Who amongst us wouldn’t delight in unwinding after a stressful day with a whimsical romp through German history?
