The Dabbler’s Round Blogworld Quiz #15: The solution

Looks like old hands Worm and JL are sharing the cream bun this week. Whither Adelephant, we wonder? Click continue if you give up…

Earlier we asked the 15th RB Quiz question, namely:

What connects a man in a white suit to: a dog’s leg, Dabbler Soup and Heinz baked beans, and, finally, a free run?

And the answer is… echo words! Each of the clues refers to a short word which, when repeated, makes another word.

The man in the white suit here is Tom Wolfe – a tom-tom being a drum (or a satnav, I suppose).

At the end of a dog’s leg is a paw – doubling up to make the fruit pawpaw.

Dabbler Soup and Heinz Baked beans both refer to tins or cans or indeed, tin cans. And we can double both of those to make cartoon character Tintin and saucy French dance the can-can.

Finally – a free run in cricket is a bye. Bye-bye.

Sorry Brit, I missed this one (children, chores, hairdressers etc). I’ll try and be in next week, when I shall endeavour to outwit the mighty Worm and Jonathan Law.
