Looks like I’ve stumped you at last with my uber-fiendish quiz. Frankly I’ve given enough clues now… if you give up, click continue.
Earlier we posed the 22nd RB Quiz question, namely:
What connects Black (or White) with Dido, Castle, Elephant and Scratch?
And the answer is.. Paul Simon! The clues refer, in order, to the names of the fleeing ne’er-do-wells in the chorus of his 1975 hit 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover.
You just slip out the back, Jack
Make a new plan, Stan
You don’t need to be coy, Roy
Just get yourself free
Hop on the bus, Gus
You don’t need to discuss much
Just drop off the key, Lee
And get yourself free
Jack = Black (or White)… the actor (or the rock star)
Stan = Dido (who made her breakthrough after singing on Eminem’s hit Stan)
Roy = Castle, the tapdancing Record Breaker
Gus = Elephant, a film by Gus van Sant
Lee = Scratch, ie. Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, the legendary reggae producer
damn! I had genuinely thought paul simon but then discounted him because I couldn’t think of any of his songs
Fiendish!
D’oh! Morrissey sang a cover of Lou Reed’s Satellite of Love this Glastonbury, I was sure that must be the answer. It even has a list of names, Harry, Mark, and John, but unfortunately no Jacks, Lees, or Stans. I even googled to check if the Slim Shady’s real name wasn’t Mark, or Lee Perry didn’t use Harry as a nom de plume when writing letters to the local paper.
