Quiz Special: Cryptic Hypergram!

Brit the Elder has been busy again, fashioning a mind-bending new quiz for you whizzes, which we’re calling a Cryptic Hypergram (well why not?). Comments are off, but send your answer to editorial@thedabbler.co.uk by this time next week and we’ll sort you out with a prize if your name is drawn…Good luck!

Here are 13 cryptic crossword-style clues. The hint in the brackets after each tells you the number of letters in the answer.

The shortest answer is one letter long, the longest is thirteen letters long, and every number between 1 and 13 is represented (so there’s a two-letter answer, a three-letter answer etc up to thirteen). Each answer, except the one-letter answer, is an anagram of another answer, but with an extra letter added, So every word can be made from the letters in the thirteen-letter answer. As a final hint, no answer has the same number of letters as its question number.
