Glengoyne Comment of the Month Winner – October 2011

Every month we award a bottle of Glengoyne 10 year old single malt – the finest whisky available to humanity – to a commenter who tickles our fancy…

You can be reasonably sure that there will be at least one Dabbler commenter who will know more about the subject in hand than anyone you’ve ever come across. This time it was David on the subtleties of the US’s Glass-Steagall Act and the consequences of its disappearance. I’d quote it but it’s so long, detailed and specialist it might be better to point you in its direction.

I think it’s notable that David knows about this sort of thing because he spent a portion of his career working on it. Another example of why blog information can be superior to newspaper information.

David also got extra credit for using this comment to retrieve a potentially uncivil situation created by an earlier one. At The Dabbler our attitude to incivility is that of a rogue trader to his compliance department: only when totally unavoidable.

Anyhow, an enlightening and thoroughly deserving winner. But don’t think we’ll always give our prize to this sort of comment – we do flippant too.

Next to that time the Nobel Committee called, I’ve never woken to such welcome news.
