Earlier Nige posted the question: How would you get from a lemon city to a red city by way of a Duchess, two weavers, an expensive binding and two popular trios?
And here’s the solution…
The lemon city is Amalfi, famous for its lemons and its lemon liqueur Limoncello, and once known as Malfi.
The Duchess of Malfi is a play by John Webster (‘webster’ being another word for weaver).
The second webster is Noah Webster of Webster’s Dictionary fame.
‘Like Webster’s Dictionary we’re Morocco-bound’ sang Bing Crosby and Bob Hope in The Road to Morocco, starring the well-known trio of Crosby, Hope and Dorothy Lamour.
Finally, from one Crosby to another, and to another Morocco-bound trio, Crosby, Stills and Nash on the Marrakesh Express – to Marrakesh, the Red City.
So sorry I missed the fun – I was offline in the wilds of Derbyshire. Those were brilliant answers, both right and wrong – and the solution arrived at in dazzlingly short order.
