The Dabbler’s Round Blogworld Quiz #20 – Part B

Continuing from yesterday’s RB Quiz Part A, here are the answers to the first five clues:

1. Generator of Monday chaos? (6) = DYNAMO (anagram of Monday = generator)

2. Light equipment made from cobalt or chromium. (5) = TORCH (embedded in cobalt or chromium)

3. Part of what might fall on the ungodly. (9) = BRIMSTONE (as in ‘fire and…)

4. Formidable weapon for formidable woman? (6-3) = BATTLE-AXE

5. Regard tug from vantage point. (10) = WATCHTOWER (a tug being a ‘tow-er’)

And here are clues 6-10. Remember, the answers are all connected. For a cream bun, you have to find the connection; and for a mega-cream bun, with extra cream and extra bun, identify the odd one out….

6. Hybrid knot once used in battle. (8)
7. Iron block attached to stirrup. (5)
8. Living next to No.47 or No.80! (11)
9. In hot spot get the wind up and go AWOL before military operation (6,5)
10. Much too noble feudal superior. (8)

The full solution will appear later…

Would no. 8 be Transfigure? I think you might have to share lashings of megacream among several folks this week, from all the comments. Brilliant clues.

      Not ‘transfigure’, Mark.

I’ll pass the kind comments on to Brit Senior. The internet isn’t really his thing though – he actually posted me these clues in an envelope. With a stamp! Through the post! The answers were sealed separately to prevent me from cheating. I got them all except no. 3 and no.8, which is v clever.

Bother – I missed all the fun. The connection is that they are allied operations from WWII.
