The story so far…

Relatively new to The Dabbler? Now’s the time to catch up. Although only 5 months old, The Dabbler already has a rich archive in which to delve. Here are a few you might have missed from our early days…

Brit interprets a terrifying family portrait in The Cobham Cuckoos and Gaw looks at some remarkable class manners. Worm digs up the Tyburn, London’s secret river, while Bryan Appleyard is transfixed by a Chaplin still and Jon Hotten meets hard man Lenny McLean.

Nige’s butterflies give him the Summertime Blues, and Martin Wainwright explains what moths tell us about life. Or how about one of our earliest special guests: here Richard Taylor explains How to Read a Church, and present a BBC TV programme.

And don’t forget that you can explore the back catalogues of our regular features, and our columnists Susan (Retroprogressive), Frank Key and Noseybonk using the icons at the top  of the screen.

Happy New Year to all of our readers, contributors and commenters. Thanks all for making writing and reading The Dabbler so enjoyable in this first year – and here’s to an even better 2011, which will surely be known for all eternity as The Year of The Dabbler. Cheers!

Truly a rival for the South Bank Show, an oasis of culture in a desert of mediocrity, a guiding light in the dark alleyways of twenty first century living, that perfect note, the sublime brush stroke, the sound of a V6 Matra on the Mulsanne straight, Julia Roberts gently snoring. Probably exceeds an AA Gill piece on nosh.

Can I have the money now please?
